About RAIN Works
RAIN Works is an owner-operated radio communications business focused on making practical communications easier to understand, carry, and use. We build compact portable radio Manpack systems designed around real-world field use. Each kit brings together a mobile radio, battery power, external antenna connection, carry system, programming, and documentation into one organized package.

The mission behind RAIN Works is simple: Comms for the Common Man. Capable radio gear should not feel confusing, unreachable, or reserved only for experts. Whether someone is brand new to amateur radio, studying for their license, building emergency communication capability, or already active in the HAM radio community, RAIN Works exists to make portable radio more approachable.

Our work is built around three priorities: practical equipment, clear information, and responsible use. We want customers to understand what their gear can do, what it cannot do, and how to use it legally and safely.

RAIN Works also supports the broader radio community through educational content, programming references, DIY projects, Discord discussion, and resources for people working toward their amateur radio license.

I originally ordered the Manpack to use as a mobile base for weekend activities but its size and weight have changed my thoughts, it’s now my EDC. I can plug in my car antenna for the commute and go back to the “Signal Stick “ when I get to the shop. It doesn’t take up much if any space on my desk. It’s a very solid setup, some of my coworkers are looking to order one. I missed out on the first batch but scored on the second batch. I went with just the Basic because as a new ham I wanted to learn how to set it up. This Manpack is definitely worth it. Thanks Corbin aka R.A.I.N. Works :-)
